Preventions against covid

SUPPORT INHAMBANE  DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

In 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic started to strike Mozambique, Project Vita decided to support Inhambane province’s rural areas with preventive actions. Our goal was to provide 500 visors and 50 washing stations to health care facilities in the province. To raise funds for these supplies, we started a funding campaign in Sweden called 19mot19, or 19 Against 19.  The idea was that most people could afford to donate 19 SEK to support Inhambane against Covid-19.

With funding from 171 supporters, donations from visor supplier Atitude JFS, and additional support from Project Vita, we were able to provide 1,500 visors and 50 washing stations for three municipalities in Inhambane province. This will provide 963 health care staff a safer working environment. Further, all health facilities in the three municipalities now have washing stations available to protect both patients and health care workers.

This project targeted Sustainable Development Goals 3.d: Strengthen the capacity of all countries, in particular developing countries, for early warning, risk reduction and management of national and global health risks; and SDG 6.b: Support and strengthen the participation of local communities in improving water and sanitation management.
