Time to present the team behind Project Vita! Fourth out is @martinaeichler 😃 Stay tuned for more presentations ahead:
My name is Martina Eichler and I am a Global Product Portfolio Specialist at Electrolux, raised in Sweden currently living in Germany.
I experienced Project Vita and the passion the members have for it when conduction my Master Thesis in Qualimane Mozambique in 2018. Since my first encounter with the organization I have tried to support the growth and reputation of the NGO.
My role in Project Vita is Ambassador, were I am spreading the word to my network of professionals and students all around Europe promoting the benefits of working with our NGO.
From my time in Mozambique, I have equally strong memories of sharing a moment of excitment or happiness together with people who you might not speak the same language as but nevertheless share a strong connection with. The willingness to help and be included humbles me to this day.
The most unexpected thing about me would be that even though I might not look like the fitness type I, together with Sara Flygar finished the Svensk Klassiker in 2020 which is a series of sport events including cross-country skiing 90km, biking 315km, swimming 3km and running 30km!

In February 2017 the Inhambane Province got affected by a very powerful tropical cyclone called Dineo that damage many communities and schools. One of these communities that got affected by the cyclone was Linga Linga. Infrastructures and homes got destroyed leaving the community in some tough times ahead of them. At the school the first, second grade students and the director of the school was left without a roof and rooms to work in. 4 years later we were asked if we could help the community rebuild the classrooms. We have now decided to support the children and community of Linga Linga to renovate the classrooms and also build 2 improved toilets for the 260 children that attend this primary school.

Time to present the team behind Project Vita! Third out is Aishwarya 😃 Stay tuned for more presentations ahead:
My name is Aishwarya Shendre, I am an Architect by profession and I'm practicing in India.
My role in Project Vita is Architect and Co-ordinator for India. It started off as a simple compliment on instagram for the noble work that Project Vita was doing. It turned into an unexpected and a very beautiful journey in India with Michel to explore Bamboo construction techniques at Asia's largest Bamboo institute in Chandrapur. We discussed and designed the Tor Linga Linga Resort and the Meraki community centre to be built with materials that are found within 5km radius. It was a month of staying in the jungles of Chandrapur and Gadchiroli (where Michel overcame his fear of snakes) and staying by the beaches of Gokarna and Goa.
I am a travel bug and I prefer travelling alone, meeting new people to understand culture and local traditions. I love to explore villages and prefer houses made in natural materials. A lot of people in my circle say that I am moving backwards in life, but the fact is I am moving towards a sustainable way of living.

Last year we had Hanan Hadi and Haya Abduljabar from the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH that conducted their Bachelor Thesis in Medical Engineering with us at Project Vita. In cooperation with the maternity clinic here in Linga Linga they were to develop a solution for sterilization of medical instruments.
At the moment sterilization of medical instrument is done in boiling water for an hour over a wood fire. Wood is a scarce resource in the region and the method of boiling is time consuming, according to the healthcare workers. In an interview they also mentioned it would be desirable to have an electric-powered solution to sterilise the medical instruments.
Based on research it was decided to develop a solution of an autoclave, based on a modified pressure cooker since these are available locally and less expensive.
Thank you Hanan and Hadi for your research and we are hoping for further studies on this project by another student group! 🙏

What is important for you?
For this community it was a place to give birth that wasn’t far away and we were therefore asked to support them.
For us it is obvious why we do what we do, if we can help then we should! When many like-minded people come together, plus the support we get from all of you kind people, then this is the result we get. We are very grateful and thankful to everyone that have supported this project and we hope you will continue to support us in the future🙏
Thank you for sharing, but most importantly, thank you for caring ❤️

It's time to present the team behind Project Vita! First out is @saraflygar 😃 Stay tuned for more presentations ahead:
My name is Sara Flygar and I am an Industrial Design Engineer, living in Sweden.
I am Coordinator in the organisation for the Swedish team. I first got in touch with Project Vita through my Field Study to Mozambique for my Master Thesis with the organisation as my local contact. Thereafter I was proposed a position and decided to join since I am passionate about design that help people help themselves out of poverty. In my role I am active in development projects in Mozambique and the activities in Sweden.
My strongest memory from Mozambique was to get to know the people and culture, with strongest insight being how many lack proper health care and education worldwide.
The most unexpected info about me would be that I went through military service and worked in the Swedish army as a way to challenge myself and serve my country.

Since the opening of the maternity clinic of Linga Linga in December there has been three new souls coming to this world there. Rita and Emanal got their first daughter today and it is the first birth of 2021 at the maternity clinic🙏👶
—
Before the community would need to walk for hours, take a local chapa (back of a pick up) or a Dhow boat across the bay to the nearest maternity clinic to give birth. But today some of our basic needs are meet in this area of Mozambique🙏
